Footsteps Away From a Place Called Home

The artwork, "Footsteps Away from a Place Called Home", captures a poignant moment of farewell, as a man and woman stand before an unfinished house, symbolizing the broken promise of a place to call home. Carrying a suitcase which has almost nothing inside, they are caught between the emotional weight of their past and the uncertainty of their future. The unfinished structure represents the disruption of their lives, a common consequence of evictions,which echoes the larger histories of displacement experienced by African communities across the globe, whether through colonialism, economic pressures, or systemic injustice.
