Yinkore
(Coming Soon)

Yinkore (b. 1998) is a self-taught Nigerian digital artist, who is exploring the juxtaposition of her traditional culture and new age media. She is a person with multiple minority statuses who knows that stories like hers are hardly ever told and uses her artistic voice to navigate her lived experiences, by exploring themes of intersectionality and representation in the art created. Using her pieces as a form of activism and voice to resist the silence people with identities like hers were taught to embrace, in an attempt to secure the portrayal of every identity possible as advancements in art continue.
Her works focus specifically on the exploration of the lives of black women and how they navigate being made subject to a patriarchal society as well as their relationship with culture, sexuality, mental health, amongst other things. Although she has a variety of art styles, the major identifiers in her work are vibrant colors, patterns and layering, with a goal of achieving typical traditional textures and depth.
Since starting her career in 2017, she has had her art exhibited in several cities around the world from Abuja to Senegal, Toronto, Paris and New York, even getting on a billboard in Times Square. She has also had the pleasure of working with brands like Berkeley Haas, Oxfam International and ConsenSys, on a vast array of commissioned projects. Her works have been featured by reputable names such as CNN Africa, Teen Vogue and Forbes, to name a few, where she has been praised for her unique approach to digital art. Her art sits in the public art collection of the Arab Switzerland Bank, as well as the private art collection of one of the Communications Advisors of the Official Secretary to the Governor-General of Canada.
Exclusive collection with Sokari, coming soon.
