£1,050.00Price

Inspired by the real historical resistance movement of the Ekumeku warriors, who bravely opposed British colonial rule in Anioma land between 1883 and 1914.

This piece focuses on King Nwoko of Idumuje-Ugboko, who stood as a powerful symbol of cultural pride and defiance during the colonial encounter.

The emotional weight of this work lies in its portrayal of tension-between identity and erasure, tradition and imposition, courage and fear. Wrapped in Akwáocha, the king becomes a beacon of ancestral resilience.
